Mary (Lindeman) Muchmore, 75, of Parkston, SD, passed away Wednesday, May 8, 2024, at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Monday, May 13, at Parkston Congregational Church in Parkston. Burial will be at Parkston Protestant Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, May 12, from 5-7:00 PM at the church with a 6:30 PM prayer service.
Mary E. (Lindeman) Muchmore was born February 3, 1949, to Carl and Joan (Gould) Hafner in Parkston, SD. She attended Parkston High school and graduated in 1967. Mary then attended Southern State College where she received her bachelor's degree in education. She taught school until her retirement from Maxwell Colony in 2005.
Mary was united in marriage to Duane Lindeman on August 9, 1968, in Parkston. She farmed all her life with Duane until his passing, and then continued farming with her son. Mary was also co-owner of Mitchell Livestock with Duane from 1997-2005. Mary later married Jim Muchmore on November 25, 2023, who brought her great joy in the short time they had together.
Mary was a lifelong member of the Parkston Community. She served on various boards and committees through the Parkston Congregational Church and was active in Parkston Senior Citizen Center.
Mary enjoyed sewing, quilting and baking all her life. She fiercely loved her grandchildren and loved attending their activities. She had a group of loyal friends with whom she enjoyed traveling, playing cards, and supporting one another.
Mary is survived by her husband, Jim Muchmore; son, Daren (Lisa) Lindeman of Parkston; daughters, Kimberly (Chris) Max of Mitchell and Amy (Benn) Richards of Dousman, WI; 10 grandchildren; sisters, Cathy Tinney of FL, Dorothy Pederson of TX, and Judy Shunkwiler of Stratford, SD; and sisters-in-law, Karen Hafner, Alma Lindeman and Shelly Zhradka.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Duane Lindeman; daughter, Jennifer Lindeman; brothers, Peter Hafner and John Hafner; step father, Art Kludt; and brothers-in-law, Doug Lindeman, Maurice Pederson, and Terry Tinney.
