Mary Flores Muniz, affectionately known to many as Tush, passed away peacefully on October 27, 2025, at the age of 80, surrounded by her loving family in Round Rock, TX. Born on September 11, 1945, in Granger, TX, Mary was a beacon of joy and kindness, whose radiant smile and generous spirit left a lasting impression on everyone she met.
Mary's life was filled with love and laughter. She is survived by her husband Leopoldo Muniz. Her children Patricia Martinez and her partner Mike G. Cantwell, Mary Ann Barrera and her husband Rick Barrera, and Leopoldo Muniz Jr. Her grandchildren, Miranda Danielle Barrera, Isaiah Barrera, Victoria Muniz, Diego Ramos, Letitia Martinez, Krista Martinez, Roxanne Martinez, and Andres R. Martinez and 6 great grandchildren.
Mary was blessed with siblings who were an integral part of her life: Ray Herrera, Luis Herrera, Juanita Huettenmueller, Mary Helen Rodriguez, and Nicole Rodriguez. Her days were brightened by the presence of numerous nieces and nephews, who will carry fond memories of their aunt. Mary was preceded in death by her siblings Dionisia (Licha) Cisneros, Patricia (Pat) Ornelas, Clara Mancias, Raymond Herrera, Roman Herrera, Jesse Herrera, Josephine Herrera, and Dominga Herrera, as well as her dear nieces Oralia Ornelas, Olivia Ornelas and nephew Matthew Herrera, and niece Imelda Cruz.
Mary attended Round Rock High School in Round Rock, TX, Mary's career was as diverse as her interests, spanning from her time spent as a server, cook, and senior caregiver, to her work within electronic assembly. Each job was performed with dedication and the utmost care for those she served.
Her hands were rarely idle, cooked delicious dishes, particularly during the holidays. She had a fondness for watching movies, with "The Fast and the Furious" series being among her favorites. Mary's afternoons were complete with the intrigue and drama of her beloved soap operas. Loved watching Game Show Central, one of her favorite game shows Family Feud. She had an ear for all genres of music and couldn't resist the urge to move and dance to its rhythms. Also, had so much love for her cat Sofie whom she built a special bond and trust with. Also, her love for elephants did not go unnoticed with her collection in various forms.
Above all, Mary's favorite pastime was being with her family, whom she loved beyond measure. The memory of her funny, loving, and friendly presence will be a comfort to those she has left behind.
Mary's life was a testament to the power of resilience, laughter, strength, courage and of love. She will be deeply missed yet forever remembered by all who were fortunate enough to have known her. As Mary's family mourns her passing, they celebrate the incredible woman she was and find peace in the indelible mark she made on their hearts.
