Mary Murray, a beloved sister, aunt, and friend, passed away suddenly on September 15, 2023, in Quincy, Massachusetts. Born in Bronx, New York on August 27, 1943, later moving to Manhattan where she lived for over 30 years. She was the daughter of James F. Murray and Rose (Myers), Mary was a shining light of kindness and love to everyone who knew her.
Mary attended Aquinas High School. After graduating, she entered the publishing world, beginning a distinguished career with McGraw-Hill Publishing Company. With an impressive tenure of over 50 years, she primarily worked in international foreign publishing rights, becoming a respected figure in the industry.
She is survived by her siblings, Kathleen Branca and her husband Frank of Manorville, New York, Patricia A. Daly and her husband John E. Jr of Milton, Massachusetts, her brother-in-law, Robert Walpole of Bronx, New York, who was the husband of her late sister, Eileen, the late James F. Murray Jr of Bronx, New York, her brother-in-law, Robert Howes of Oyster Bay, New York who was the husband of her late sister Margaret. Mary was a cherished aunt to Robert, Christopher, Michael, Karen, Rosemarie, Maura, Kathryn, and Robert, and a dear great-aunt to numerous grand-nieces and grand-nephews and a great friend to many.
Mary's interests stretched far and wide, but she always held a particular fondness for travel. She delighted in discovering new places and cultures, a passion that complemented her work in international publishing. However, it was the simple pleasures in life that Mary cherished the most. She loved spending time with her family and friends, whether in person or over the phone. Her warm laughter and engaging conversations will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Mary was a woman of exceptional kindness and love. Her generosity of spirit was evident in the way she cared for her family, friends, and even strangers. She was the kind of person who made everyone feel welcome and valued. Her loving nature was infectious, and she had a remarkable way of making people feel special.
Despite her passing, Mary's legacy of love and kindness will continue to live on in the hearts and minds of all who knew her. Her family and friends will always remember her as a beacon of light and love. She leaves behind a rich tapestry of memories filled with love, laughter, and kindness.
In the face of loss, we remember Mary not with sorrow but with gratitude for having had her in our lives. Her memory will forever be a source of comfort and inspiration to all who knew her. Mary Murray's life was a testament to the power of love and kindness, and she will be deeply missed.

I had the pleasure of knowing Mary for the past year. She was always very friendly and quick with a smile. I remember talking with her about the Murray surname and it's origins. Reading her obituary just now I learned more about her interesting life and successful career. She was a very nice person and she will be missed by all who had the good fortune to know her. My condolences to her family and close friends....
