Mary Nelson Obituary

Mary Kay Nelson passed away on July 17th in New Brighton, MN at the age of 62, after a brief and unexpected battle with throat cancer. Diagnosed in January, she chose comfort and peace over aggressive treatment and spent her final months in hospice care, surrounded by compassion.

Born and raised in Minnesota, Mary Kay was the beloved daughter of the late Lawrence Sr. and Margaret Drozdik. She is survived by her siblings; Lawrence Jr "Larry" (Marlene), Deborah "Debbie" (Danny "Lucky"), Joseph (the late Sandra "Sandy"), and Michael and by her four children; Sarah, Laura, Joshua, and Jacob-who will forever hold her in their hearts.

Though Mary Kay faced significant challenges with mental illness throughout her life, her love for her children was always unwavering and could be felt despite the distance.

She is remembered with tenderness by her family, who honor not only who she was, but all she endured.

A funeral mass will be held for Mary Kay Monday, August 11 at 11:00 AM with a visitation one hour prior at Constance Free Church, 16150 Crosstown Blvd NW, Andover, MN 55304. Interment will take place following mass at Constance Free Church Cemetery, Andover, MN.
