Mary Olson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Directors - Royal Oak on Dec. 18, 2025.
Mary M. Olson, age 96, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 16, 2025.

Born on March 8, 1929, in Hanover, Ontario, Mary was the daughter of Ernie and Barbara Mineard. She is survived by her three children, Rick, Paula (Rob), and Kirk (Liz); three cherished grandchildren, Alexa, Michael, and Bradley; one nephew; and three nieces. She was predeceased by her dear brother, Herbert Mineard.

Mary was raised in Madison Heights and was a lifelong resident. While employed as secretary to the superintendent of Madison District Public Schools, Mary lovingly raised and provided for her three children. In retirement, Mary enjoyed her cozy home and visiting her grandchildren in Pennsylvania.

Mary began a new chapter in her life after reconnecting with her high school classmate, Robert Lewis. Bob and Mary spent many wonderful years together. They were always out and about, enjoying travel, movies, dining out, and especially visiting friends and family. They were equally content staying at home eating popcorn and watching the Red Wings. Bob's family embraced Mary and opened their hearts and homes to her.

In recent years, Mary was cared for in her home by her children and dear friend, Barbara Kastle. Mary's family is forever grateful to Barb for the love and compassion she showed. She has become a treasured friend to Mary's family.

Visitation for Mary will be held on Sunday, December 21, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. (Sharing of Memories at 3:30 p.m.) at Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Directors, 705 W. Eleven Mile Rd., Royal Oak (four blocks east of Woodward).

In lieu of flowers, donations to Leader Dogs for the Blind or an animal charity of the donor's choosing would be welcomed.

To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
