Mary Leona (Hult) Orvis May 5, 1936 - August 20, 2025 Mary Leona Orvis, a devoted nurse, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and devoted follower of Jesus, passed away on August 20, 2025, at Regions Hospital in St. Paul, Minnesota, surrounded by her loving family. She was 89 years old. Born to pioneer missionaries Reverend Ralph and Gertrude Hult in Springfield, Missouri, Mary spent her early years in Missouri before moving to Nebraska and later Bolivia, where her mother Gertrude served at an orphanage. . Mary's love for others was instilled in her from a young age, and she went on to pursue a distinguished career in nursing. Mary attended Luther Academy in Wahoo, Nebraska, and later earned her nursing certificate from Swedish Nursing School in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She received her Bachelor's of Science in Nursing from Augustana College in Rockford, Illinois. Mary dedicated over four decades to nursing, working in various capacities, including geriatric and psychiatric nursing at Golden Valley Hospital and Park Crest Care Center. Mary Hult married LeRoy Orvis on December 11th, 1964 in Minneapolis. The couple raised their 4 children in Brooklyn Park, MN. Mary is survived by her brother Gus (Maria) and her brother David's wife Carol; her children, Elizabeth (Daniel) Wilson, John Orvis, James (Christina) Orvis and Rebekah (Lee) Dodge; grandchildren, Audra, Christopher (Audrey), Karine (Noah) , Rachel, Violet, Tiarra, LJ, Sam, and Elijah; great granddaughter Eunice Wilson as well as her loving extended family, including her sons and daughter-in-laws and nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 12, 2025, at 11:00 am at Calvary Church in Roseville, Minnesota. A reception and celebration of life will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, donations will be used towards funeral expenses or given to KTIS radio.
