Daryl Leigh Orvis Sr., 72, of Ottawa, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at home with his family beside him.
His request for funeral services was to be private. Burial was in Riverview Cemetery in Marseilles. Seals-Campbell Funeral Home was entrusted with arrangements.
Daryl was born on March 26, 1953, in Ottawa, IL, to Lawrence and Catherine (Engel) Orvis. In 1994, he married Patricia Ann Miskel of Ottawa who preceded him in death in 2006.
He worked at Caterpillar Tractor Company in Joliet for over 30 years until retiring. He was a devoted Chicago White Sox fan, enjoyed spending time on the river on his houseboat at Buoy Four Boat Club, and loved listening to oldies on his jukebox with his family, friends, and neighbors.
He is survived by his children, Daryl Leigh (Sylvia) Orvis Jr., James M. (Theresa) Orvis, Ron Wright, Donna (Don) Hoffman, John Wright, Jennifer (Dave) Smith, Kim (Jason) Savage, and Melissa Bonneville. He was proud to be Poppa D to 27 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild, as well brother to siblings, Lawrence (Betty) Orvis Jr., Dennis Orvis, Ronnie Orvis, Linda (Troy) Wise, and Cindy Wise.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Patricia; his daughter, Peggy Partridge; one sister, Patricia; one brother, Leo; and two grandsons, Noah and Eric.
