ROTTERDAM – Mary Ann "Babe" Caruso Pasquarella, 93, passed away peacefully on June 20, 2025.
Born in Schenectady, she was the daughter of the late Vincenzo and Carmella Ruggiero Caruso. A 1950 graduate of Nott Terrace High School, Babe began her career as a secretary at General Electric before joining the Schalmont Central School District in 1968. Over the next 28 years, she served faithfully in both the transportation department and the middle school office.
Babe was deeply dedicated to her colleagues, serving as union president, grievance chair, and an active member of the support staff association at Schalmont. A woman of deep and abiding faith, she was a lifelong communicant of Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister, a member of the Rosary Society, and a loyal volunteer at the annual festa.
Babe was a gentle, loving and kind-hearted soul, who was deeply devoted to her family; she touched the lives of many with her caring nature and the comforting light of her beautiful smile. Her love, guidance, and presence will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Richard 'Dick' Pasquarella, Sr. and her brother, Bart A. (Doreen) Caruso.
Babe is survived by her devoted family; sons, Richard A. (Bridget) Pasquarella, Jr. and Michael (Carmela) Pasquarella; grandchildren, Joseph, Nicolas, Anthony and Sofia Rose; Sisters-in-law Marie Cimino and June Wilt. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Services will be held on Thursday at 9AM from the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home, 501 Union Street and then to Our Lady Queen of Peace, Mariaville Road where a Mass will be celebrated at 10AM. Entombment will follow in Sts. Cyril & Method Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Wednesday from 5 to 7PM at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made in Babe's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at stjude.org or Our Lady Queen of Peace Parish.
