Devoted Wife, Loving Mother, Cherished "Mimi," and Faithful Servant of God
Mary Anderson Patterson, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and faithful servant of the Lord, entered her eternal rest on October 17, 2025, surrounded by love and peace. A devout Christian, Mary's life was a reflection of her steadfast faith, gentle spirit, and unwavering kindness. She lived each day with humility, grace, and a heart dedicated to caring for others.
Mary was born on February 13, 1945, to the late Katie and Hobert Anderson. She was preceded in death by her brothers Robert, Glenn, and Billy Anderson, and her niece G. Patrice Reeves.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Gary R. Patterson; her loving daughter, Cati Harris, and son-in-law, Chuck Harris; her treasured granddaughter, Jordan Ballard, and fiancé, Brayden Phillips; and her precious great-grandson, Braxton Burnett, who brought her endless joy. She is also survived by her dear nephews Kevin Anderson (Kerry), Monty Anderson, and Daniel Anderson, as well as several great-nieces, nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews who all loved her deeply.
Also surviving are her loving brother-in-law Jeff Patterson (Vickie) and sister-in-law Sherry Stansell (BJ), who shared in her family's love and devotion throughout her life. Mary was a talented cook who could fill a home with warmth and the comforting aroma of her Southern dishes. She also possessed a beautiful singing voice that touched hearts and lifted spirits, especially when singing hymns of praise. Her love for her husband Gary was steadfast and true, and together they shared a lifetime of devotion and faith. To her family, she was a constant source of love, guidance, and gentle strength - a true example of God's grace in action.
She will be lovingly remembered by her dear friends Robert and Cathy Haynie, who shared many cherished moments and steadfast friendship throughout the years. The family extends a heartfelt thank you to her great-niece Jameece Metcalf and her husband Richard for their extraordinary dedication and compassion in caring for Mary during her final years. Special thanks are also extended to the staff of Mountain Ridge Health and Rehab in Black Mountain, NC, for their kindness and care.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Swannanoa Church of God at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Swannanoa Church of God, 199 Wilson Avenue,
