Mary Perras

Norwich - Mary (Bonomi) Perras, 97, wife of the late Robert J. Perras, Sr. of Norwich, passed away peacefully with her family by her side at her home on January 3, 2025. Born in Norwich on September 7, 1927, Mary was the daughter of the late Aristide and Christine (Yeitz) Bonomi.
She was employed at the RL&G Agency, as an insurance agent, for 28 years until her retirement in 1991, among other agencies.
Mary was a devoted parishoner of St. Mary's Church and was also a member of The Italian Women's Social Club. She was a student of the first graduating class of Bishop School in 1941 and was a graduate of Norwich Free Academy, class of 1945. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, traveling, cooking, and playing card games.
Her happiest days were spending time with her family. Mary is survived by her two children, Jane Easterlin (Michael) of Franklin and Robert J. Perras, Jr. (Debbie) of Norwich, grandchildren Amy Easterlin of Griswold, Christopher Perras (Kayla) of Niantic, Matthew Perras (Sabrena) of Norwich, and great-grandchildren Joey Mahoney and Jack Perras, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was predeceased by her two brothers, William and Paul Bonomi of Norwich and two sisters, Adeline Kutia and Lorraine Parkhurst of Norwich.
At Mary's request, there are no calling hours. Friends and family are invited to attend a celebration of Mary's life with a Funeral Mass to be held on January 9, 2025 at 1:00 pm at St. Mary's Church in Norwich. Interment will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, Mary has requested donations in her memory be made to NFA, 305 Broadway, Norwich, CT. 06360 or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, ALSAC/St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN. 38105.
Mary's family would like to extend their deepest thanks and appreciation to the Hospice team at Hartford Healthcare for all of their help and support during this difficult time.
