Mary D. Casteel Phillips, age 92, of Westmoreland, TN, passed away September 30, 2025. She was born October 24, 1932 to the late Mitchel Casteel and Carrie Gertrude Walton Casteel in Lafayette, TN.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Argel Elvin Phillips; her sisters, Opal Graves, Ada Smalling, Sandy Elkins, and Gail Casteel; and her brothers, Thurman Casteel and Doug Casteel.
She is survived by her sons, Wayne Phillips, Eddie Phillips, and Gary Phillips; her daughter, Pamela Amacher; her grandchildren, Audrey (Billy) Creason, Nikki (Adam) Craig, Ashley Babcock, Joey (Danielle) Phillips and Kenny Phillips; as well as 11 great-grandchildren.
She was a General Baptist and saved as a young girl. She loved cooking, baking, canning, reading, and reading medical books, crocheting and sewing. She was a proud mother of four children and enjoyed spending time with her family.
The funeral services for Mrs. Phillips will be conducted on Saturday, October 4, 2025 at 12PM from the chapel of Woodard Funeral Home with Bro. Michael Horton officiating. Interment will follow in the New Hope Cemetery. The family will receive visitors on Thursday, October 2nd from 2PM till 8PM, Friday, October 3rd from 9AM till 8PM and again on Saturday, October 4th from 9AM till service time at 12PM at Woodard Funeral Home.
The family has entrusted Woodard Funeral Home with the care of their loved one. "Serving you as we would like to be served."
