Mary H. Pierce, 83, of Katy, TX, formerly of Dyersburg, died Sunday, January 14, 2024, at The Legacy at Falcon Point in Katy, TX. She was born in Dyersburg, TN April 13, 1940, to the late Clarence Franklin (7/12/87) and Maggie Sue Belote Hicks (1/24/82). Mary was a retired residential real estate agent. She and her late husband Jerry (9/4/99) were faithful members of First Baptist Church in Dyersburg where she served on staff as an administrative assistant and preschool director for many years. Mary’s vibrant personality will be missed. Anyone who knew her well welcomed her infectious smile and candid manner of provoking a good laugh.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 27, 2024 in the Chapel of Curry Funeral Home officiated by Dr. Wade Stevens with interment to follow in Fairview Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Saturday, January 27th beginning at 11:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
Lee Pierce, Jr., Nick Pierce, Kyle Pierce, Richard “Rick” Wright, Christian “Scott” Johnson and Jeff Anderson will serve as pallbearers. Hayes Pierce will serve his great-grandmother by serving as honorary pallbearer.
She is survived by her two sons, Jeffery L. Pierce and wife, Jane of Katy, TX, Lee H. Pierce and wife Laura of Hernando, MS, four grandchildren, Nick Pierce, Kyle Pierce, Maggie Pierce Goodwin, and Lee Pierce, Jr., one great-grandchild, Hayes Pierce, and her sister, Peggy Jones of Dyersburg.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, Jerry L. Pierce (9/4/99), and her brother James F. Hicks (2/28/74).
