Mary Price Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Highlands Family-Owned Funeral Home - Louisville on Dec. 7, 2025.
Mary Virginia "Jinny" Barbara Price, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, December 5th, 2025, with Jesus in her heart and surrounded by angels, at the age of 102.

Born on May 13th, 1923, in Louisville Kentucky, she was preceded in death by her husband of over 40 years, Lawrence E. Price, and her six siblings.

She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is survived by her oldest son and caretaker, Larry, with whom she lived for 27 years; her daughter, Jackie Carrico (Mike); her son, Randy (Denise); 8 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Jinny was a devout Catholic and honored the Blessed Mother of our Lord by reciting the rosary twice daily. Her devotion to Christ never wavered, and she maintained a steadfast faith, hope and trust in Him for all of her needs. She had many virtues, but one that stood out most was her incredible ability to forgive. She believed her greatest gifts while on earth were her Catholic faith, Mass, Holy Communion and her family.

Mom was always a joy to be around as her many friends at Shenanigans Irish Pub and Left Field Lounge would attest to. While she sipped on one of two beers she would allow herself, she would reflect on her past and tell stories to them about her upbringing on Oxmoor Farm, which they all enjoyed hearing.

Mom was an avid bowler, and bowled in leagues until she was 90 years of age. She also loved to fish, especially crappie fishing. Jinny loved sports and she was a huge fan of the University of Kentucky, Cincinnati Reds and Trinity Shamrocks.

She also enjoyed watching the old "Maverick" reruns while munching on some cheese and crackers, which was her favorite snack. Jinny also thoroughly enjoyed sitting outside on the deck, listening to some of her favorite songs from the 1940s with her son, Larry, while singing along with Glenn Miller's version of "Chattanooga, Choo Choo."

Visitation will be Wednesday from 3:00 pm - 7:00 pm for personal friends of Jinny and Larry and 2:00 pm - 7:00 pm on Thursday, December 11th for relatives and all others at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road. Her funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday at 10:00 am, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 501 Cherrywood Road. A private family burial will take place in Resthaven after Mass.

Mom will be sorely missed, but she is now in the arms of our Lord Jesus, relishing the joys of heaven.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations may be made in Jinny's name to the Little Sisters of the Poor.
