Mary R. Privitera

Forever in our hearts, we are sad to announce the passing of Mary Privitera,1051/2years young, at the Friedwald Center in New City, NY. As a caring and loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother she will be highly missed. Mom lived a full life always surrounded by caring and supportive family. Cherished by all, she is survived by her daughter Patricia Lombardi and husband Dominick, daughter Cathy Capozzoli, and son Joseph Privitera and wife Rosemarie.
Mary will always be remembered as a beautiful, caring, generous, and giving individual. A woman who lived a full life and shared her thoughts and prayers for everyone. Her number one priority in life was always family and made no distinction between birth or in-law children.She loved us all unconditionally.A home maker most of her life, you always knew mom would be there for you with her insights, wisdom, and a terrific meal.
As a young girl of 61/2 she arrived in America from Domanico, Calabria with older brother Bruno and parents John and Rosina Filippelliin1925.She learned a new language and customs and over came the struggles in a new land. As a graduate of Central High School of Needle Trades, with a focus on dressmaking, she then worked as an accomplished seamstress. In her own right, Mary became a very fashionable dresser along with her two younger sisters, Yolanda and Gloria.
Following World War II and the homecoming of her childhood sweetheart, Mary and Joe were wed and raised their family. Her dedication and love for family was everything. This very essence and spirit of Mary will eternally live on through all of the extended branches of our family tree and beyond.
Mary was predeceased by husband of 62years Joseph and eldest daughter Mary-Ann, all now joined together in heaven.
