Obituary of Mary C. Ritzel
Mary C. Ritzel of Conway SC, a former longtime resident of Port Jervis died on September 11, 2023 in Conway. She was 92.
The daughter of the late Alexander & Catherine (nee Dudko) Osowick, she was born on February 22, 1931 in Port Jervis, NY.
Mary worked and retired from Bon Secours Community Hospital serving as an Admissions Clerk for over forty years. Prior to retiring to South Carolina she was a longtime devout parishioner of St. Mary's RC Church, Port Jervis. Her granddaughter Jessica said "her grandchildren cherished her immensely and she was every bit what a grandmother was expected to be and more".
In addition to her parents Mary was predeceased in life by her beloved husband John C. Ritzel Jr. her beloved granddaughter Jasmine Myers, brothers Julius, Alex and Tom Osowick Sr along with her sister in law Patti Osowick.
She is survived by her daughter Kathleen Luquis (Diego) of Myrtle Beach. Cherished grandmother of Jessica Casey (Shane) of Conway, Natasha Pepper of Myrtle Beach, Sarah Luquis (Justin) of Texas, Matthew Burke of Port Jervis and Jessica, Joshua & Brian Luquis of NY. Great grandmother of Hannah, Corey, Gabby, Austin, Andrew, Isiah, Jonathan, Angelina, Elijah and Alex. Great great grandmother of Sophia and Olivia. Sister in Law of Kathleen Osowick of Port Jervis.
A visitation will take place on Tuesday 9/19 from 5 to 8:00PM at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home. Guests are invited also on Wednesday 9/20 from 9 to 9:30AM at the Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10AM at St. Mary's RC Church, Port Jervis followed by burial at St. Mary's Cemetery East Main Street.
