Mary Rox Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Louis C. Galzerano Funeral Home, Inc. - Philadelphia on Mar. 1, 2026.
Mary S. Rox, Age 86, passed on February, 24th days before her 87th birthday. Years ago, Mary would let people know her nickname was "Rocky." After battling Alzheimer's/Dementia for a long period of time, she can now go in peace to visit her loving parents whom she missed for the past 30 years. She passed away at Saint John Neuman Rehab and Healthcare center in Philadelphia on February 25,2026 with her loving twin sister and family by her side.

Mary was born February 27,1939, to the late Charles and Sue Rox in Philadelphia, PA. She is survived by her sisters, Phyllis Smith (Albert) and her twin, Theresa Costick (Joseph), as well as many nieces, nephews, great and great greats, who will miss her dearly.

Later in life, she worked many years until her retirement in 1993 with State Farm Insurance as a claims clerk.

Mary had many loves in life. First and foremost were her parents, whom she was their caregiver. She also took care of her loving brother-in-law when she lived with her sister. Mary's compassion in life was to tend to others. She also volunteered for many years at Immaculate Mary nursing home. She became a favorite, as she made everyone feel "loved". At Halloween she would dress up and give out candy to the residents. At Christmas she always made sure Santa made that special stop to say hello and give out candy canes & small gifts to the residents.

Mary never had any children, so she adopted her many nieces and nephews as her own. In the summer, she spent countless hours at the beach in Ventnor NJ and when not there she was teaching everyone to swim at the pool. She was an avid Eagles & Phillies fan..Aside from sports her other joys in life were playing card games, bowling, board games, shopping, dancing (she was known to dance a mean polka), and loved Karaoke. And her favorite, trying to win at the casino!

She will be missed at family get togethers and Sunday dinners.

Relatives and friends are invited to her visitation on Thursday, March 5th from 9:15 to 10am at the Galzerano Funeral Home, 9304 Old Bustleton Avenue, Phila PA 19115, Her Funeral Service will begin at 10am. Interment St. Dominic Cemetery.
