Mary Sabelli Obituary

Mary I. Sabelli, 101
1923 - 2024
Lynn - Mary Immacolata (Carito) Sabelli, 101, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on December 7, 2024. Born to Antonio and Maria (Pisano) Carito in Lynn, Massachusetts and raised in the North End, she moved back to Lynn when she married Guido F. Sabelli in 1948, where she lived for over 75 years in the house he built for them.
While raising her family, Mary worked for many years as a stitcher in various factories and then as a cafeteria worker at the Hood School until she retired at 92 years old!
Her role as wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother were central to her life, creating cherished memories and traditions for many. She enjoyed hosting her family for many gatherings throughout the year, including the Feast of the Immaculate Conception on December 8th for her extended Carito family, complete with Santa Claus, and homemade gnocchi and fried dough. Shortly after, on Christmas Eve, she then would prepare the traditional Feast of the Seven Fishes.
She is survived by her five children, Frank Sabelli of Beverly, Guido Sabelli and his wife Susan of Northborough, Joseph Sabelli and his wife Terri of Peabody, Lenore Barbeau and her husband James of Methuen, and Robert Sabelli and his wife Dee-Dee of Lynn, plus 12 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and many loving nieces and nephews. Her family extends a deep gratitude to the many caregivers and caseworkers who ensured care for Mary, especially the Greater Lynn Senior Services.
A devoted member of the Catholic Faith, praying the Rosary daily, she is joined in Heaven by those who have gone before her, including her husband, Guido F. Sabelli in 2008, infant daughter in 1955, and brothers Joseph, Angelo, John, William, and Saverio.
Though she will be deeply missed, Mary's family finds comfort in the blessing of having her in their lives for so many years. Her legacy of love and kindness will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

My deepest sympathy to the Sabelli family. Mary was always very kind to us neighborhood children. I remember on the family baking day (Mondays if I remember correctly) every once in a while sitting on the steps she would give us some pizzelles. They were great. I have alot of great memories of those years growing up with the Sabellies as neighbors.
