Mary Helen Sanders

MARY HELEN (STILTNER) SANDERS, 85 years of age of Maxie, VA, passed away Saturday, November 15, 2025. Born in Harman, VA, she was the daughter of the late Jonah and Alice Faye (Clevinger) Stiltner. She was a lifelong resident of Buchanan County and attended Harman Memorial Baptist Church. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and was a retired schoolteacher of 34 years. She loved to read her Bible, watch the news and westerns, shopping on QVC, going to church, spending time with her family and loved President Donald Trump.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son: Michael Ray Sanders; Grandson: Michael Ray Sanders Jr., Sisters: Louise Coleman and Audrey Jean Dye; Brothers: Ersel Stiltner, Russell Stiltner, Estil Kenneth Stiltner; Best Friend: Ray Sene Sanders.
Those left to cherish her memory include her Granddaughters: Ashley Elizabeth Sanders, Grundy, VA, Amber Dawn Fuller, Richlands, VA; Great-Granddaughter: Remi Jade Jennings; Sister: Virginia Faye Stiltner, Lynchburg, VA; Special Friends: Jennifer Ratliff and Denetta Looney.
Also, survived by several nieces and nephews.
Graveside Rites for MARY HELEN (STILTNER) SANDERS will be conducted Wednesday, November 19, 2025, at 11:00 A.M. at the Mountain Rest Mausoleum, Mountain Valley Memorial Park, Big Rock, VA, with Shea Shrader officiating with burial to follow.
Active Pallbearers will be family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family ask for donations to be made to her favorite organizations - St. Jude's and Shriners Hospital.
