Mary Catherine Schrodt passed away peacefully on December 4, 2025.
Born on July 11, 1945, in Orange, New Jersey, Mary was the daughter of the late John and Adelaide Schroeder. She earned her degree in Elementary Education and Music from Barat College, later pursuing graduate studies at the University of Notre Dame—where she met and married the love of her life, Ivan B. Schrodt, in 1970.
Teaching was Mary’s lifelong passion. She devoted many years to educating elementary school students and later found great joy in teaching piano, particularly to adults discovering a new love for music. Her patience, warmth, and encouragement left a lasting impact on all who learned from her.
Mary and Ivan shared a love of travel, and many of their happiest adventures were spent touring the country together in one of their beloved Corvettes.
Mary is survived by her husband, Ivan; her sister, Nancy Roth of Lakeland, Florida; and a large circle of nieces, nephews, and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her sister, Susan Mahoney.
Honoring Mary’s wishes, no services will be held.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Rawhide Boys Ranch, an organization close to her heart.
Mary's greatest joy was the life she shared with Ivan, her devoted husband of 55 years, whose love was her constant companion in every journey.
