Mary Rose Seifert

Mary Rose Seifert (nee Dernbach), age 100, died peacefully on August 22, 2025 at Meadowbrook Manor of LaGrange. Beloved wife of the late Elwyn, Loving mother of Diane Hill of Indian Head Park, William (Cynthia) of Hoffman Estates and the late Julie Kerrigan. Devoted grandmother of Andrea (Victor) Vela, Stephanie (Patrick) Giblin, Claire (Steve) Leaf and Derek Seifert. Devoted great-grandmother of Sloane Vela, Henry Giblin and George Giblin.
She graduated from the University of Wisconsin where she was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority and worked for Encyclopedia Brittanica shortly after graduating. She enjoyed continued studies in Atlanta, GA, where she and her husband lived for 28 years, in addition to courses at Loyola University and the Elderhostel program. She was devoted to volunteer work at church, school and Head Start Program. She and her husband spent many years traveling.
Visitation 8:30am until time of chapel prayers, 9:30am, on Saturday, August 30th at Hallowell & James Funeral Home, 1025 W. 55th St., Countryside followed by a Funeral Mass 10am at St. Cletus Church, 600 W. 55th St., LaGrange. Interment private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Lighthouse Hospice and Palliative Care, 2807 Centre Circle, Downers Grove, IL 60515 are dearly appreciated.
