Funeral Service for Mary Shaneyfelt, 92, of Hartselle, will be at 11am, on Wednesday, October 23rd, 2024 at East Highland Baptist Church with Rev. Jarrod Helms, Rev. Wally Blackman, and Rev. Charles Stone officiating. The family will receive friends and family on Tuesday from 6-8pm at Peck Funeral Home in Hartselle. Burial will be in the Hartselle Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Shaneyfelt, who died Friday, October 18th, 2024, in Hartselle, was born May 13th, 1932 in Cullman County, to Bemis E. & Viola (Hooper) Raley.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, LE Shaneyfelt; grandson Benji Murphy; her parents; and one brother, Armon Raley.
She is survived by her daughter: Barbara Henry (Thomas) of Decatur, grandsons: Mike Murphy of New York City, and Major Logan Henry, U.S. Army, (Kayla) of Fort Leavenworth, KS; great grandchildren John Walker Henry and Lily Ann Henry; a sister: Dot Ledlow (Clyde); a brother: Arvil Raley (Ann); and a multitude of nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is also survived by foster son, Bobby Looney (Nancy) and his family.
Mrs. Shaneyfelt was retired from a long career as the owner and operator of a custom drapery business, which she started in 1976. She loved to travel, and saw much of the United States and the world alongside her beloved husband. She enjoyed playing cards, dominos, and other games with her church friends and family, and always had a great story to share which typically ended in giggles. Mary was a charter member of East Highland Baptist Church, and was a devoted servant, always there to lend a helping hand to those in need. She was a tremendous prayer warrior, and served in a number of different roles supporting the church. She was an excellent cook, with a secret recipe for delicious pan-fried squash loved by all.
Pallbearers will be: Brad Shaneyfelt, Mike Murphy, Colton Gibson, Wil Summerford, Terry Brooks, and Logan Henry.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial donations to be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. www.stjude.org
