James M. Shaneyfelt
June 1, 1963 – May 1, 2025
James M. Shaneyfelt, 61, passed away in his home on May 1, 2025 from a very brief cancer diagnosis.
Born in Oaklawn, Illinois on June 1, 1963, James was the son of Robert and Ann (Milas) Shaneyfelt. The family would move to Kokomo, Indiana where he would graduate in 1981 from Haworth High School.
Interesting in tool & die early on, always wanting to analyze and fix things, and James performed his apprenticeship at his father's shop, Shaneyfelt Tool & Engineering, in Kokomo. He would make the move to Warsaw and make a career beginning in May of 1988 as a tool & die maker for Zimmer, retiring in June of 2023.
James was strongly, independent and liked living a simple life. He opened his home to care give for his mother.
He was a member of the Eagles Lodge and the Loyal Order of the Moose in Warsaw. He appreciated being outdoors and going fishing. He took many trips up to Michigan to mushroom hunt and enjoyed going to the Indy 500. He was a fan of the Chicago Cubs and the Indianapolis Colts. James enjoyed keeping his mind sharp with crossword puzzles, learning about history and reading educational and informative books and literature.
James is survived by his siblings: John Shaneyfelt of Winona Lake, Susan Skelton of Hoschton, GA and Robert Shaneyfelt of Corinth, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 9, 2025 from 11-1 p.m. at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapels, 2290 Provident Court. Funeral services will begin at 1 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.
Burial will follow in the Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
