Mary L. Smith

February 12, 1936 – December 18, 2025

Mary Lou (Weber) Smith, age 89 of Monroe, passed away peacefully with loved ones by her side, on Thursday, December 18, 2025.

Born February 12, 1936, in Fowler, MI. Mary was the daughter of the late Louis and Dora (Martin) Weber. After graduating high school, Mary married Clifford Smith on October 22, 1955, in Fowler, MI. They raised a family of four children. Together they owned and operated Cliff's Steak House, the Smiths Family Restaurant, and the Coffee Cup in Dundee. They spent over 32 years together, before Cliff sadly passed away in 1987.

Mary was well known for her "gift of gab." She enjoyed playing piano and having sing-a-longs. Mary used to sing in St. Michael and St. John Catholic Church's choir. She also volunteered at the IHM (Motherhouse) and was a foster gramma at Waterloo School.

Most importantly, she couldn't get enough of spending quality time with her family. Mary will be deeply missed and cherished in the hearts of her loved ones.

In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by husband, Cliff (1987); son, Steve in October of 2025, and Steves wife, JoAnn in 2022.

She is survived by her children, Brenda (Dan) Burnard of Ortonville, Scott (Anne) Smith of Ortonville, and Ronda (Jeff) Barron of LaSalle; 11 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and brother, Joe Weber.

In accordance with Mary's wishes, cremation has taken place. There will be a private ceremony at a later date. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Rupp Funeral Home.
