Charles Hall Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Merkle Funeral Service, Inc. - South Monroe on Feb. 14, 2026.
Charles John Hall was born in Detroit, Michigan on October 10, 1941. He was one of eight children from the union of Edward William "Bill" Hall and Elizabeth Ann (Phillips) Hall. He attended Solinas School in Dearborn.

As a young man he was married and had two children. Tragically he became widowed after his wife passed away. He later married Sandra Lee Jewel at the Toledo-Lucas County Courthouse on June 2, 1971. From this marriage he was blessed with her four children.

Charles was employed for many years as a Laborer for Detroit Steel until its closing. He then took a position as a Boiler Operator for Hostess. This job also afforded him the benefit of bringing home snack cakes out the "whazoo"!

Charles was very family-oriented and enjoyed time spent with his wife, children, and grandchildren. He loved to support them at their events. He was also a proud owner of a 1930 Model A and likewise belonged to a local Model A Club. He liked visiting car shows and trying his hand at the casino whenever he could.

Charles John "Chuck" Hall, age 84 of Monroe passed away at home on Thursday; February 12, 2026. His passing was preceded by his first wife; a son: Darin Diener; two siblings: William Edward Hall and Mary Lou Roberts.

To cherish his memory, he leaves two children from his first marriage; his daughters: Jennie (Mike) Berns of Newport and Joann Bunch of Kentucky; five siblings: Phillip (Charmaine) Hall, Phyllis (Brian) Warden, Patricia Trimper, Barbara (Mike) Faust, and Jerry Hall; two grandchildren: Michael (Stephanie) Berns and Nick Berns; several great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service is being planned for the near future. His care has been entrusted to Merkle Funeral Service, North Monroe; 2442 North Monroe Street, Monroe, Michigan 48162 (734) 384-5185. Cremation has taken place through Covenant Cremation of Erie, Michigan, a division of Merkle Enterprises, Inc.
