Mary Moore Smith, a beloved resident of Blakely, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 5th, 2026, at the age of 98. Born on Saturday, April 16th, 1927, in Blakely, Georgia, Mary lived a life full of love, faith, and dedication to her family and community.
Mary was a devoted homemaker, cherishing her role as a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in her younger years and was known for her strong faith and love for the Lord, which she shared with those around her. Her deep spirituality was a guiding light throughout her life.
Mary is survived by her loving children, Shirley Dukes and Tammy Lint (Lance) of Blakely, GA, and Jimmy Smith (Julie) of Dothan, AL. She was a proud grandmother to Alicia Harrell (Trey), Clay Willis (Amanda), and Blaire Brownlee, all of Blakely, GA. Her legacy continues through her cherished great-grandchildren, Timothy Harrell, James Harrell, Jesse Harrell, Aubrie Brownlee, and Kenley Jo Brownlee.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Annie Lee Moore, her beloved husband, Jim Smith, her siblings, Park Moore, Frank Moore, Henry Moore, and Betty Hall, her grandson, Blake Kelley, and her great-grandson, Sealie Harrell.
Mary's family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Early Memorial Nursing Home and Becky with Georgia Hospice for their compassionate care during her final years, as she bravely battled dementia.
A visitation will be held at Manry Jordan Hodges Funeral Home on Sunday, February 8th, 2026, from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Funeral services will be conducted at the same location on Monday, February 9th, 2026, at 2:00 pm, with Dr. Alex Howell officiating. Mary will be laid to rest at Blakely Cemetery. Pallbearers will include Lance Lint, Clay Willis, Timothy Harrell, James Harrell, Jesse Harrell, and Cliff Starr.
Arrangements are provided by Manry-Jordan-Hodges Funeral Home. Mary will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her spirit and love will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
