Mary Soncrant Obituary
Mary Ann Soncrant passed away July 9, 2023, with her family at her bedside. A lifetime resident of Toledo, OH, she was born on September 9, 1930, to Norton and Gladys (Boyce) Moon. She graduated from Waite High School in 1947 and from the University of Toledo in 1951 with a bachelor's degree in education. She married Donald Soncrant in 1952. She taught elementary school, raised 3 children, then returned to school to fulfill a lifelong ambition of becoming a nurse and worked at Riverside Hospital for many years. Mary Ann's son, Michael, lived with her and lovingly cared for her for many years until her death.
A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Mary Ann is survived by her children, Dr. Timothy (Dr. Deena Shapiro) Soncrant, Dr. Elizabeth (Alan) Sprunk, and Michael Soncrant, as well as honorary son Ron Gill. Also surviving are grandchildren David and Andrew Soncrant, Michael Sprunk, and Kathryn (Stephen) Stidham; and great-grandchild, Cole Stidham. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Donald; her parents; and numerous aunts and uncles.
Services were held privately for the family. Memorial donations may be made to the Toledo Humane Society or a charity of the donor's choice. Online condolences to the family may be made at walkerfuneralhomes.com.

OMG I am so sorry to hear this. Michael I know you took great care of your Mom & will miss her terribly. MaryAnn & I went through nurses training together & also worked at Riverside Hospital together. Michael do you remember your Mom & I studying together while you played piano & my telling you to stop as you were distracting us? I have such good memories of you & your Mom & I pray that God grants you peace in this time of need. I also extend my condolences to the rest of your family. Your Mom was a wonderful person.
