Mary Willie Payseur Splawn, 90, of Bessemer City, passed away at home on July 31, 2024. She was born April 8, 1934, in Gaston County, to the late Charles Gerome Payseur and Mary Beulah Whitesides Payseur.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 63 years, Harry Lee Splawn; son, Richard Splawn; brothers, Garnet Payseur, Lester Payseur, George Payseur, and Judson Payseur.
She enjoyed going to the mountains and to the beach. She loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Mary was the Sun Beam Sunday School teacher and a bookkeeper at Mt Beulah Baptist Church. She would not take a paycheck for all she done. She loved her family very much. Mary will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Left to cherish her memories are daughter, Karen Terry (David); brother, Donald Payseur; grandchildren, Elaine Hager (Charles), Ashley Wilson (Daniel); great grandchildren, Blake, Josh, Angela, Ali, And Annabelle; best friend, Mabel Young; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm at Sisk-Butler Funeral Home on Sunday, August 4, 2024.
Mary’s Funeral Service will be at Mt Beulah Baptist Church on Monday, August 5, 2024, at 1:00 pm with Pastor Robert Austin and Rev. Fain Farmer officiating.
Interment will follow at Mt Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery.
