Deborah Splawn Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Eggers Funeral Home - Cliffside on Mar. 21, 2025.
Deborah Haynes Splawn, born on August 26, 1959, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, dedication, and service. As a devoted educator for over 30 years, she touched the lives of countless students, inspiring them with her wisdom, kindness, and passion for learning. Her impact extended far beyond the classroom, as she nurtured not only minds but also hearts, shaping generations with her unwavering commitment.
Beyond her love for teaching, Deborah found joy on the tennis court, where she spent many happy hours playing the sport she loved with friends and family. Whether competing or simply enjoying a friendly match, she brought the same passion, perseverance, and camaraderie to the game that she did to every aspect of her life.
Deborah was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Donnie Splawn, her parents, Johnny and Barbara Haynes, and her precious granddaughter, Summer Ann Johnson. She is survived by her daughter, Leigh Ann Johnson, and son-in-law, Bobby Johnson. Her cherished grandchildren, Julian Johnson (12), Iris Johnson (8), and Isla Johnson (4), will forever hold dear the memories of their Nana's love and guidance.
She is also survived by her wonderful group of friends, who have been more like family to her & Leigh Ann over the years. Their love, support, and shared memories have been a source of strength and joy throughout Deborah's life.
Her presence will be deeply missed, but her legacy will live on in the many lives she influenced. A celebration of her life will be held at Sulphur Springs Methodist Church on Wednesday, March 26, 2025 at 1:00pm with Reverend Kathy Houser and Reverend John Miller officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 11:30am prior to the celebration of life. Interment will follow the celebration of life at the Cliffside Cemetery in Cliffside, NC.
