Mary Jane Steele

Aiken, SC— Mary Jane Steele, age 74, entered into rest on Saturday February 28, 2026, at Aiken Regional Medical Centers. She was a daughter of the late Mr. John White and the late Mrs. Dorothy Ryan White. Ms. Steele was a native of Milwaukee, WI, but had made the Aiken area her home since 1979. She was a Christian Scientist and was a member of the First Church of Christ, Scientist Aiken. She was very involved in her church. She was a Christian Scientist Practitioner, Sunday school superintendent, conducted services, was on the lecture committee, as well as the board of directors. Ms. Steele had a career as a banker, where she retired with Georgia Bank and Trust. She had many hobbies such as traveling, collecting antiques, and fishing. Ms. Steele was artistic and loved China painting. She even won 1st place at the Georgia Carolina State fair one year for one of her China paintings. Most of all, she adored her family and thoroughly enjoyed spending as much time with them as possible. She will be deeply missed. Survivors include: two brothers John (Jean) White, Oconomowoc, WI, and Richard White, Florence, WI; one sister Jean (Greg) Carter, Aiken, SC; and a host of nieces and nephews.
