On August 15, 2025, Mary Ray Stephenson passed away at the age of 105. She was born on April 26, 1920, in Bear Creek, Arkansas, to Martin and Jewel (Horton) Hinchey.

She met the love of her life, Wilbur Nathan Stephenson, at a ball game where she was the catcher. He was sitting behind her with a group of boys when she fell backward, and he caught her in his lap. They were united in marriage on March 21, 1938. Together, they were blessed with three children: Ima Sue (Stephenson) Dahlem, Jimmie Ray Stephenson (deceased), and Jurl Stephenson (deceased).

She is best known for her beautiful smile, her love for everyone she met, and her deep love for God. She had a passion for reading and writing, authoring many poems, songs, and documentary stories about her family.

Mary Ray is preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur Nathan Stephenson; her two sons, Jimmie Ray Stephenson and Jurl Stephenson; her parents, Martin and Jewel Hinchey; and three sisters, Alta Cobstill, Anna Garatt, and Georgia Edmonds.

She is survived by her daughter, Ima Sue Dahlem of Moore; her sister, Laverne Silvas of Lake Havasu City, AZ; five grandchildren: Nathan Dahlem and his wife Sandra of Okeene, Deborah McGowan of Oklahoma City, Kenneth Dahlem and his wife Marlene of Moore, Terry Stephenson and his wife Sharla of Schulter, and Mark Stephenson and his wife Rhonda of Wilson. She is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren, 24 great-great-grandchildren (with two more on the way), as well as a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and many good friends.
