Mary Hill Stevic

Mary Hill Stevic went to be with the Lord on October 1st 2022. She was a loving Mother, Grandmother and Great- Grandmother, a nurse and an adventurous soul. She was bornSeptember 6, 1941 in Chicago, IL, to Chester and Thordys (Reyklalin) Hill, but grew up in Akron, OH. She graduated from Copley High School in 1959, attended Western Reserve University and Ohio State University for two years and married Allen Stevic on November 25, 1961. Mary enjoyed music and played the piano and violin. She was a longtime resident of Akron, OH, Boca Raton, FL and Hagerstown, MD. She was a Girl Scout leader for many years and got all three of her daughters involved in Girl Scouts through which they had many wonderful adventures. She encouraged her scouts to pursue their dreams. Mary had always wanted to be a nurse and so she first became a Licensed Practical Nurse in 1985 and then graduated from Broward Community College as a Registered Nurse in 1990. She was a nurse for over 30 years. Ten of those years wereat Maryland Correctional Training Center where she loved to encourage the inmates to better their lives.
She had always wanted to visit Iceland, but thought that she had missed her chance. Her daughters put together a family trip in August of this year and she was tickled pink to see the beautiful country of her ancestors.
She is survived by her three daughters, Margaret Stevic, Charlene Stevic and Katherine Schwartz, her sister Anne Flowers, Allen Stevic, her four Granddaughters and her Great Grandson.
A Memorial Service will be held at Sparr Baptist Church in Sparr, FL on October 15, 2022 at 2 pm.
In lieu of flowers, should friends desire, the family requests donations to The Turtle Hospital in Marathon, FL as she was avid turtle lover.
