Mary Ruth Moseley Talbert, 89, of Chester, passed away peacefully on January 8, 2026. She was the beloved widow of J.W. Talbert.

Mary was born in Lancaster County to the late Lee F. Moseley and Susie Stevenson Moseley. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose life was centered around faith, family, and love. Mary was known for her quiet strength, kind heart, and unwavering dedication to those she loved.

She is survived by two sons, Johnnie Talbert (Terri) of Wateree, SC, and Ronnie Talbert (Glenna) of Woodstock, GA; one daughter, Lisa Knight (Jerry) of Kershaw; Judy McLean of Lenoir; two brothers, Junior Moseley of Knoxville Forge, Tennessee, and Jimmy Moseley of Bethune, SC; seven grandchildren: Richard Talbert, Brandon Talbert and wife Anna, Scott Talbert and wife Wrenn, Ned Price Jr. and wife Shelley, Adrienne Kush and husband Dan, Matthew Talbert, and Rhonda Johnson; along with seventeen great-grandchildren, all of whom were a tremendous source of joy and pride in her life.

In addition to her husband, Mary was preceded in death by her father, Lee F. Moseley; her mother, Susie Stevenson Moseley; one son, Rickey Talbert; son-in-law, Ned Price Sr.; two brothers, Ralph Moseley and Carl Moseley; and two sisters, Margaret Talbert and Thelma Haigler.

Mary was deeply devoted to her church and faith, which guided her throughout her life. She was retired from Springs Industries – Katherine Plant, where she worked for many years and was known for her dedication and strong work ethic.

Mary fought a long and courageous battle with leukemia, but she never let it stop her from doing what she loved. She babysat for many years and was known by many as “Mawmaw,” a role she cherished deeply. She loved her family dearly, and time spent with them was her greatest joy. One of her favorite pastimes, aside from being with her loved ones, was crocheting, fishing, and enjoying casino trips—activities that brought her happiness and many cherished memories.

Mary will be remembered for her loving spirit, her resilience, and the special place she held in the hearts of all who knew her. Her legacy of faith and love will live on through generations.

Visitation will be 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 11th at Pollard Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel. She will be laid to rest at Chester Memorial Gardens. Pollard Funeral Home is serving the family.
