Mary Joan Taylor of Atchison, KS gained her wings on October 4, 2025, after a warrior's battle against cancer.
Mary was born February 1, 1948, in La Grande, Oregon, the daughter of Raymond and Irma (Davis) Summerfield. She earned a GED and attended Kansas City Community College before working as a security screener at the Kansas City Airport. Mary was a member of the United Methodist Church in Kansas City, MO. She loved being with her grandchildren and traveling to anywhere that had a beach.
Mary married Nicholas Lee Taylor on March 24, 1989, he survives of the home in Atchison, KS. She also survived by a son, Steve and Nycki Auchard, Atchison, KS, four fiercely loved grandchildren, CJ, Nick, Alex and Lila, sisters, Judy Oyer, Atchison, KS, Nancy Davis, Lawrenceville, GA, nephews, Kevin and Scott Oyer, Atchison, KS, nieces, Pam Watson, Wichita, KS, Sharon Grigsby, Clinton, MO, Shelly Falls, Virginia, the Summerfields of Oregon, many friends, family and her own personal fan club. She was preceded by her parents, a sister Evelyn Greenwell, three brothers, Wayne, Charles and Gerald Summerfield.
Mary chose to have a private celebration of life at a later time with close friends and family. Cremation care has been entrusted to the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home. Donations in honor of Mary may be left at www.givingsendgo.com/Maryjtaylor. Condolences may be left at www.beckerdyer.com.
