Mary Helen Terrell, a beloved member of the Nederland community, departed this life on February 18, 2026, at the age of 85. Born on April 29, 1940, in Nederland, Texas, Mary Helen was a lifelong resident of her hometown, where she devoted herself to her family, her church, and her many friends.

Mary Helen embarked on her professional journey as the secretary for Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Nederland. Over six decades of dedicated service, she became an integral part of the church community, exemplifying the very spirit of devotion and care for which she was known. A charter member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Mary Helen's faith was foundational to her life, and she was actively involved in the Lutheran Women's Missionary League. Her warm welcoming nature ensured that all who entered the church felt embraced and valued, embodying her belief in fostering a true sense of belonging.

In addition to her career, Mary Helen was a devoted wife and mother, finding joy in the simple pleasures of life with family and friends. She was a caregiver to her husband, Charles Terrell, during his battle with Parkinson's Disease. Their marriage of 63 years was marked by unwavering love and commitment, leaving a legacy of compassion and togetherness.

Mary Helen is remembered not only for her nurturing spirit but also for her generosity and hospitality. She was an avid note writer, always sending thoughtful messages to cheer the hearts of those around her. Her passion for baking allowed her to share delicious treats with her family and friends, creating treasured memories around the kitchen table.

She is survived by her son, Tim Terrell and his wife, Ashley of Orange; her daughter, Tammy Hoover of Fort Worth; and her grandchildren, Ryan Terrell and his wife, Natalie, Haley Gothia and her husband, Hunter, Holly Riemersma and her husband, Taylor, Kyler Terrell, Eva Terrell, Abby Hoover, and Jeff Hoover and his wife, Shaniya. Mary Helen took immense joy in her great-grandchildren, Collin, Cannon, Emily, and Henry, who were a source of delight and pride.

Mary Helen also leaves behind her loving sisters, Martha Ann Murphy of Lumberton and Nellie Jones of Nederland; her brother, Elmer "Bub" Kieschnick and his wife, Ann of Vidor; sister-in-law Sarah Kieschnick of Nederland; and numerous nieces and nephews, each of whom will carry fond memories of their time with her.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Charles Terrell; her parents, Ben and Martha Kieschnick; her brother, Frank Kieschnick; and her sister, Alice Clotiaux.

Mary Helen Terrell will be profoundly missed, but her legacy of faith,  kindness, and love will forever light the hearts of those who knew her. As we honor her memory, let us strive to emulate her deep faith, welcoming spirit, and selfless dedication to family.
