Mary Jo Thacker, age 85, of Chillicothe, passed away on Monday, September 16, 2024 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
Mary Jo was born on October 7, 1938 in Peoria, IL to George W. and Evalena (Webb) Case. She married Boyd W. Thacker on August 4, 1956 in Mossville. He preceded her in death on September 14, 2021. Also preceding her in death are her parents; her daughter-in-law, Terri Thacker; her sister, Janet Dotta; and her brothers, Richard, Jim and David Case.
Surviving are her sons, Tim Thacker and Michael (Mary) Thacker, both of Chillicothe; her grandchildren, Trevor (Samantha) Thacker, Nick (Jesse) Thacker, Ashley (Clinton) Mathewson, Travis (Tabatha) Thacker, Chelsea (Brian) Loc and Tyler Thacker; her great-grandchildren, Kellan, Brecken, Owen, Velma, Levi, Dominic and Warren; her brother, George (Florence) Case of Texas; her sister, Kathy (Dennis) Moody of Texas; and many nieces and nephews.
Mary Jo was a school bus driver for IVC for 25 years. She was a member of the Mossville United Methodist Church. She enjoyed playing cards, lunch and bus trips with the girls, shopping and being a part of all her grand and great-grandkids activities. What she cherished the most was time spent with family.
Mary Jo was best described as a sweetheart with a kind, caring nature by all that knew her and was always putting others before herself. To know her was to truly love her and she made sure you knew that she loved you too.
Services will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2024 at 12pm at Weber-Hurd Funeral Home in Chillicothe with visitation beginning at 10am. Burial will follow the services at Chillicothe City Cemetery. Memorials in Mary Jo's name may be made to the Myasthenia Gravis Foundation of America. Arrangements are under the care of Weber-Hurd Funeral Home in Chillicothe and online condolences may be made through www.weberhurdfuneralhome.com
