Mary Magdalene Thomas, age 94, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, November 1, 2025. She was born on July 14, 1931, in Wagoner County, Oklahoma, to the late Willie and Maud (Brewer) Carter. On December 21, 1952, Mary married the love of her life, Louie Thomas Jr., and together they shared many wonderful years of marriage. She spent 15 years working as an assembly line worker with OK Foods before devoting herself fully to being a homemaker. Mary found joy in gardening, exploring garage sales, and spending time with her family. A devoted member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses for over 40 years, her faith was the cornerstone of her life. She will be remembered for her wonderful hugs, kisses, and beautiful smile. Mary never met a stranger and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. She is survived by her children, Joseph Roberts (Dora), Sharon Thomas, Gay Lynn Gomez, and Clyde Thomas (Jennifer); eighteen grandchildren-Dalton III, Howard, Cedrick, Reed, Jeanette, Tamecca, Tadareo, Shawn, Shannon, Charles III, James, Joseph, Kaelin, Keaira, Hailey, Kaitlyn, Darrien, and Tannea; fifty great-grandchildren; ten great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She is also lovingly remembered by her special friend and caretaker, Jenny Gomez; her bonus granddaughter, Holly Bailey; and her special granddaughters who aided in her care, Tamecca Jackson, Kaitlyn Thomas, and Nakirah Jackson. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Louie Thomas Jr.; her parents, Willie and Maud Carter; her children, Dalton Roberts, Ruth Ann Delpozo, Brenda Thomas, Beulah Bryant, and Francis Thomas; one grandchild, Tevin Thomas; and her siblings, Estelle Jackson, Mayella Foster, Pricilla Potts, Willie Carter, Roy Carter, Leona Barnes, Charles Carter, and Helen Louise Moore. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at River Glenn Cremation and Funeral Services, 1805 North A Street, Fort Smith, AR 72901. A reception will follow at 4:00 p.m. at the Washington Community and Cultural Center, 3600 N. Albert Pike, Fort Smith, AR 72904. Joe McDaniel will officiate.
