Mary Jane Thompson was born to Sarah Hughes and Willie Wright, August 14, 1942 in Tatum, Texas. Affectionally known as 'May Jane', she attended public schools in Tatum, Texas and lived a short stint in Pasadena, California. Mary returned to East Texas and later married William Bryant Thompson of Henderson, Texas who proceeded her in death in 1981. Mary and William's union was blessed with four daughters.
Mary was employed by Greg County Juvenile Detention Center for many years where she later retired and received certificates of appreciation and acknowledgments which she was very proud of. Mary is preceded in death by her husband: William Bryant Thompson; daughter: Detra Luran Thompson; son-in-law: Frankie Speech; and, five siblings: Dennis Kelly, Bobby Hood, Ronale Simpson, Evelyn Solemon, and Sue McCollough.
She leaves behind wonderful memories with family and friends who loved her sense of humor and an uncanny ability to make others smile. Those left to cherish those memories are daughters: Terkeyethia Denise Speech, Tenesa Thompson, and Sabrina Thompson-Fields; son-in-law: Pastor William Fields Sr.; two bonus children: Barbara Neil Brown and Bobby Branch; three grandsons: Karl Cuba Jr., Marlon Randell, and William Speech; one granddaughter: Taelor Lang; one great -granddaughter: Haven Nunez; one sister: Mary Simon; two sisters -in-law: Cleo Thompson and Betty Hood; and a host of other relatives and friends.
In God's loving arms we commit our mother, friend, co -worker, and neighbor. We know God is well pleased, but we're very sad that we had to part. Eternity seems so far away, yet so close in heart where her love will remain forever. The hurt comes and goes. The gentle breeze of the warmest of smiles and wit will be engraved in our thoughts forever. Rest in power Queen Mary. We're honored to have you as our mother who instilled respect, independence, and an ingenuity to create something out of everything we touched. You cared for others and you loved without cause. Your work was not in vain. With Love, Denise, Tenesa, and Sabrina
