Mary Nell Townsend

Mary Nell Townsend age 84, of Dalton, GA, passed away on Saturday, August 23, 2025. Mary was born in Dalton, GA, on November 28, 1940, the daughter of the late Perry Owens and Eunice Rogers Owens. She was a member of Gospel Way Baptist Church. Mary enjoyed her flowers and watching birds. In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her three brothers, Arvin Owens, Robert Owens, and James Owens and three sisters, Mildred Penland, Delma Hudson, and Jewel Dill. Survivors include her husband, Roscoe Henry Townsend; son, Eric Townsend; daughter, Joyce Mejia; four grandchildren, Katrina Young, Cassandra Young, Brandon Townsend (Cassie), and Ryan Townsend; nine great-grandchildren, Brie Carter, Blake Carter, Brant Carter, Carter Langford, Cambree Ridley, Toby Mejia, Dedarah Angle, Teresa Reed, and Chandler Reed; and five great-great-grandchildren, Emberlyn Carter, Keleena Mejia, Rafael Angle, Minerva Angle, and Sylvia Angle. Several nieces and nephews also survive. A Celebration of Life will be Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at 2:00 P.M., Chapel of the Dalton Funeral Home with Pastor Roger Baker officiating. A private interment will follow at Harmony Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from noon until the service hour at Dalton Funeral Home.
