Mary Elizabeth Johnson Troxal, 87, of Pennington Gap went to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 17, 2023 at University of Kentucky Medical Center.
Mary was born on May 8, 1936 in Lee County to the late Ellis and Hazel Harless Pleasant. She was a faithful member of Belchers Chapel Church. Mary was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother, sister, and friend.
Along with her parents she is preceded in death by her second husband, Harold Johnson; loving son, David Troxal; infant grandson, Chris Troxal; grandson, James Michael Troxal; sisters, Berley Phyllis Thacker, Ada Lee Starpt, and Donna Sue Pleasant.
Those left to cherish her memory are her sons, Robert "Danny" Troxal, and Keith "Bones" Troxal and wife, Beth; daughters, Joyce Ann Starbuck and companion Terry Rigney, Peggy Johnson, and Debora Fishel; sisters, Linda Freed; along with several Grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, and her church family of Belchers Chapel.
A funeral service will be held at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, December 20, 2023 at Pennington Gap Funeral Home with Rev. Ira Clark officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until the time of service at Pennington Gap Funeral Home.
A committal service will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, December 21, 2023 at Lee Memorial Gardens, Woodway with Rev. Ira Clark officiating. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at Pennington Gap Funeral Home by 12:30 PM to go in procession. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
The family would like to thank the staff of Harlan Health and Rehab for their love and care of Mary.
