Mary Ruth Tucker was born September 13, 1965, in Bamberg County, South Carolina, the daughter of the late Otis and Essie Mae Harrison Faust. She departed this earthly life on Sunday, June 23, 2024.
Mary was educated in Richland County District One. "Tootie Baby", as she was affectionately known, was the songbird of her family. At an early age, Mary developed a love and passion for music and singing. The moment she would start, she would blow away her audience with her incredible and distinctive tone. Every year Mary's family and friends awaited with anticipation for her call as she would serenade them with a personal birthday song.
She was a member of Life Living Ministries, Columbia, SC and was an honorary member of New William Street Baptist Church, Columbia, SC. Mary was employed at the University of South Carolina for over 30 years, serving in environmental services until retirement. All those whom she encountered on the USC campus knew and loved her very much.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by three sisters, Mamie Sue Faust, Leslie Faust, and Annie B. Williams; three brothers, Otis Faust, Jr., Willie Faust and Joseph Lee Faust.
Left to cherish fond memories are her husband of 35 years, Jerry "Gary" Tucker; four sons, Gary Faust, Travis Hagler, Bryant Tucker and Otis Faust, all of Columbia, SC; two sisters, Lillie (Sam) Harmon and Edna Faust, of Columbia, SC; two brothers, Bernard (Teresa) Faust and Ernell Faust of Columbia, SC; three grandchildren, La Noddie Hagler, lyona Hagler and Zayah Hagler, all of Columbia SC; three great grandchildren, Ayven Hagler, Aycen Hagler and Avia Hagler, all of Columbia, SC; ten sisters-in-law; and 3 brothers-in-law; her dear and loving friends, Rochelle Sulton and Yolanda Carmen; a host of nieces, nephews and other friends who are going to miss her dearly.
