Mary L. (Lee) Varn, age 76, of Canton, passed away peacefully early Thursday, March 12, 2026.
Born in Canton to the late Russell and June (Marsh) Lee, Mary lived a life defined by warmth, generosity, independence, and love for her family. She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband of 46 years, Terry Varn, and her sister, Patty.
Mary was a warm and welcoming presence to everyone who knew her. She had a kind heart, a generous spirit, and a gift for making people feel at home. She was strong and independent, but also deeply caring, always ready to open her home, share what she had, and make others feel special. Her hospitality, warmth, and kindness will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
She worked for many years as an office manager for several businesses, including a plastic surgeon’s office, an optical store, and a public school. In every role, she was known for her reliability, organization, and caring nature.
Mary shared a beautiful love story with her husband, Terry. They met on her 21st birthday and remained together until his passing on her 74th birthday, building a life filled with love, family, and lasting memories.
She loved celebrating Christmas and especially cherished hosting her Christmas Eve gatherings, where family and friends were welcomed with the warmth and joy that defined her so well. Mary also had an adventurous spirit and a love of travel. Whether taking cruises, enjoying family vacations, traveling on her own, or even zip lining in Haiti, she embraced life with courage and enthusiasm.
Above all, Mary loved her family. She treasured the time she spent with them and the memories they created together over the years. Her love, generosity, and the joy she brought to holidays, vacations, and everyday moments will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Lori Varn; her grandson, Dominic Varn; and her brother, David (Kathy) Lee.
Family and friends will be received on Friday, March 20, 2026, at Rossi Family Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Parish / St. Anthony Church, with Rev. Fr. Frederick Schlueter, celebrant.
