Mary Wainwright Obituary
Ms. Mary Ruth Wainwright, 94, of Americus, passed away at Magnolia Manor of Americus on July 6, 2023. Funeral services will be held at Shema Baptist Church on Sunday, July 9, 2023 at 3:00PM with Dr. Sam Harper officiating. Burial will follow at County Line Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will greet friends at Shema Baptist Church beginning at 2:00PM until service time.
Ms. Wainwright was born October 9, 1928 in Calhoun County, Georgia to Theo and Neta Page Alston. She worked for many years at the Manhattan Shirt Company in Americus and also at the Americus Movie Theater. Ms. Wainwright enjoyed cooking and working outside with her flowers. Her favorite pastime was watching soap operas, westerns and church on Sundays. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Joe Alston; and her brothers and sisters.
Survivors include her son, William Wainwright and his wife, Kathryn; grandchildren, Dawn Bullock and her husband, Kyle, Michael Wainwright, Sr. and his wife, Tammi, Joshua Alston and his wife, Florence, Tiger Taylor, Cammie Reese, and Tammy Holloman, Cecil Bell and his wife, Laura, Alisa Martin and her husband, Adam; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the County Line Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 6374 Englishville Rd., Andersonville, GA 31711.
