“Well done thou good and faithful servant.” (Matthew 25:23)
Mary A. Wallin went to her eternal home on May 25, 2025 at the age of 99. Mary Alicia Louise (Dahlberg) Wallin was born July 13, 1925 to Swan and Cecil Dahlberg. While much of her youth was spent growing up in the Minneapolis area, she often reminisced about summers spent on her grandparent’s farm in Wisconsin as a child.
While attending Elim Baptist Church in Minneapolis, she met Vernon Wallin. They were married on August 9,1947. To this union was born three children, Mary Kay, Bruce, and John. They were married for 70 years.
In 1956, they moved to Milaca where Vernon taught school and Mary first worked as a secretary in the Watkins Products office, then accepted a position at the Keith Clinic where she worked for many years until her retirement.
In their retirement years, they enjoyed some travel, vacations at the lake with family and time with grandchildren. Mary also served as church organist at The First Baptist Church in Milaca for many years, playing her last service at the age of 92. Vernon passed away on March 27, 2018.
In her later years, Mary enjoyed quiet times, visits from family, watching reruns of old westerns, and was an avid reader.
Welcoming her at heaven’s gate were husband Vernon, daughter Mary Kay and son-in-law Edward Zahora, daughter-in-law Shelly Wallin, great-grandson Jared, parents Swan and Cecil, brothers Alfred, Alvin and Allen, and sister Alice. She is survived by two sons Bruce Sr. (Susan) of Milaca and John of Sandwich, Illinois, 8 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
A private interment will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery.
A special thanks to the staff at the Milaca Elim Home for their tender, compassionate care.
