With deep love and sadness, we remember Mary Elizabeth Webb (Angius), whose life was defined by love, kindness, strength, and an unwavering dedication to her faith. She was a devoted wife and mother, and her presence shaped the lives of all who knew her. Her warmth, laughter, and honesty will be missed more than words can express.
Mary passed away Monday morning in
Charlotte, North Carolina, surrounded by her husband, son, daughter, and grandchildren. She was 86.
Born in Tamroy, West Virginia, Mary was the middle child of eleven siblings born to the late Louis and Quinta (Nenni) Angius. Raised in the coal mining communities of southern West Virginia, her childhood was deeply influenced by her Italian heritage-marked by a profound love of family, faith, and food.
After graduating as Valedictorian of Mt. Hope High School in 1957, Mary began a career that spanned decades, primarily within the automotive industry. A diligent and respected bookkeeper and accountant, she first worked for Blackburn Ford in Oak Hill, West Virginia, before relocating to Charleston. There, she built a nearly 30-year career with Harvey Shreve Ford Saab BMW in St. Albans. She later completed her career at Davis Chrysler in Huntington, retiring in 2003.
For most of her adult life, Mary lived in Milton, West Virginia, where she raised her family and built a strong and enduring network of neighbors, coworkers, and friends. She was a founding member of St. Stephen's Catholic Church in Ona, West Virginia, and an integral part of the church's spiritual and social community.
Mary found joy in life's simple pleasures-impromptu road trips and Sunday drives, word searches, and card games shared with friends and family. Above all, she cherished time spent with those she loved.
In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her brothers Johnny Angius, Junior Angius, Frank Angius, and Sam Angius, and her sisters Teresina Sykes and Ellen McCoy.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Harold Webb; her son, Christopher (Amarja) Webb of
Charlotte, North Carolina; her sisters Rose (Jim) Hayes of Radford, Virginia, Patty Wooten of Chicago, Illinois, and Josie (Artie) Wriston of Oak Hill, West Virginia; her brother Jackie Angius of Oak Hill; her sisters-in-law Brenda and Sandy Angius; and her cherished grandchildren, Atraiu and Araiya Webb.
A service to honor Mary's life is being planned, with details to be shared at a later time.
