Mary Antoinette Webster, 75, of Erlanger, KY passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 21, 2022. Mary was born in Covington, Kentucky on May 3, 1947 to the late Jenny (nee Dumonceau) and Harley Webster. Her parents met in Belgium during World War II, where her father was stationed with the U.S. Army and her mother was working as an interpreter. The family lived in Covington for less than a year before moving to Chappelle-lez-Herlaimont Belgium to be close to Mary's maternal family. Mary was very close to her Belgian grandparents and her parents owned a men's suit shop in the town where Mary's mother grew up. Mary and her family returned to the United States on the SS United States' maiden voyage where she remembered seeing the artist Salvador Dali. Her family settled in Covington, where she learned English as a second language to her native French. Mary was a proud graduate of Boone County High School and the University of Cincinnati where she earned degrees in English and French literature and made lifelong friends at both schools. Professionally, Mary worked at the IRS and as a printmaker, and lastly as a public library employee. As a life-long reader it was a dream for her to work at a library. She retired from the Kenton County Public Library as the Homebound Coordinator after 16 years. Mary was known for her sage advice with a down-to-earth perspective. She had a great sense of humor, often playing jokes on people. She was empathetic and a very humble person. She loved going on adventures to new or beloved places in Europe or in the U.S. and local favorites the Cincinnati Art Museum, Kings Island and Coney Island. She enjoyed bowling, skiing and tennis. She was an avid reader of The Adventures of Tintin comics and mystery genre. Mary is survived by her cousins Blane Webster of Downers Grove, IL, Philippe (Christine) Moriau of Seneffe, Belgium, Victor Moriau of Antwerp, Belgium and her very dear friend Kim Behle of Erlanger, KY. She will be deeply missed by her many friends especially her youngest admirer Liam DeSantis who held a special bond with her. Mary enjoyed life with good food and conversation. Please join us in a Celebration of Mary's life on Friday, June 3, 2022 at 3:00 pm at the Hive East Coast Kitchen & Coffee Bar, 480 Erlanger Rd., Erlanger, KY 41018.
