Mary Louise Weinzapfel, 85, of Evansville, passed away Thursday, August 1, 2024 at her home.
Mary was born in Nashville, Tennessee on April 18, 1939 to the late Samuel Guy and Rose Bell (Hames) Guy. She loved to play Bingo, watch television, play cards and watch the horses run at Ellis Park. She helped raise 27 children, some related to her and some not. She loved them all.
Surviving Mary are her son and daughter in law, Michael and Sarah Weinzapfel; grandchildren, Penny Holmes, Paul Gandy, Jr, Katie Frenz, Blake Weinzapfel, Chasity Weinzapfel, Rose Mary (Terry) Smith, April Reed, Jessie Hoge and Krissy Hoge; great grandchildren, Dallin Butts, Byron Butts, John Koch, Macy Koch, Makensie Gandy, Caleb Gandy, Ashton Frenz, Aceyn Frenz, Audrey Frenz, Billy Rahm, Cody Rahm, David Postin, Stephen Postin, Hollie Postin, Jacob Cooper, Madalynn Hoge, Penelope Hoge, Emma Hoge, Kaylee-Mae Hoge and Shyloh Moak, many nieces and nephews. Mary lived her last days caring for her great great grandchildren, Jasmine Weger, Kurrency Koch, Jar-yn Koch and D-Ray Koch.
Rose Mary Smith and Macy Koch were her caregivers to the end.
In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by a daughter, Pamela Brown; two sons, Randy Hoge and Jerry Hoge, Jr.; sisters, Peggy Hogge, Ruby McCormick and Rosalee Ward; by brothers, James, Joseph and Jack Cook and William C. "Cooky" Hames; by grandchildren, Rachel and Alexis Hoge and great grandchildren, Asleigh and Sophia.
Funeral services for Mary will be held at 6:00 PM on Tuesday, August 6, 2024 at Pierre Funeral Home, Rev. Terry Gamblin officiating.
Friends may visit with the family from 2:00 until 6:00 PM on Tuesday at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin Street.
