Mary Gardner White, 97, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on October 26, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones.
Born on January 12, 1928, in Louisville, Mary was the daughter of the William and Bessie Gardner. A trailblazer in her field, Mary proudly became the first engineering associate in the state of Kentucky. She dedicated over 50 years of her career to the telephone company, where she was respected for her intelligence, determination, and work ethic.
Mary lived a full and joyful life. She cherished spending time with her beloved husband, Donald White, at South Park Country Club, where the two enjoyed many rounds of golf together. She also loved the excitement of visiting casinos and trying her luck at the slot machines. A talented bowler, Mary spent many happy hours at the lanes with friends and family.
A devoted sports fan, Mary’s heart belonged to her Kentucky Wildcats. Whether watching basketball or football, she could always be found cheering loudly and proudly for her team.
Mary was known for her impeccable style—always perfectly dressed, accessorized, and never leaving home with a hair out of place. She carried herself with confidence and grace, balancing her signature sassiness with a warm, caring heart. She was deeply devoted to her family and would do anything for those she loved. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her daughter and grandchildren, who brought her endless pride and happiness.
Mary is preceded in death by her loving husband of 50 years, Donald K. White; parents, William Hardy Gardner and Bessie Stephens Gardner; and siblings, Gene Gardner and Joann Philpott.
Left to cherish her memory, Mary is survived by her daughter, Vicki Marion; Granddaughter, Shea Marion; great-granddaughter, Jordan Marion; and brother, Warren Gardner (Dee).
Mary’s spirit, strength, and love will continue to inspire all who knew her. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
