Linda Whitehead, age 78, passed away Saturday, July 12, 2025, at her residence surrounded by family. Linda was born on November 25, 1946. She was married to her late husband, J.W. Whitehead for 56 wonderful years. She was employed at Cosmolab for most of her life until she retired in 2009. She enjoyed spending her free time cooking, sitting outside on the porch and watching the hummingbirds and squirrels but most of all spending time with her family. Everyone who knew Linda, knew how much she adored her kids and grandkids. She was the heart and glue of the family and will be missed dearly.
She is preceded in death by her husband, J.W. Whitehead; her parents, Robert Gower and Ruby Mae Luna Gower; 1 son, David Davis; 3 sisters, Betty Sue Davis Gower, Faye J. Sweeney and Nannie Fagan; and 2 brothers, Bobby and Luther Gower.
She is survived by 1 son, Darrell Davis; 2 daughters, Jackie Johnson and Tracy (Barry) Spivey; 6 grandchildren, Britni and Whitni Blackwell, Kasey (Joe) Pullen, Tyler (Lacey) Davis; Wilson (Olivia) Spivey and Sydnie (Humberto) Lopez; 13 great grandchildren, Jaylah and Ja’Mauri Ewing, Emery Masson, Kylie, Emersyn, and Easton Pullen, Walker, Wyatt, and Savannah Spivey, and Karson, Kamden, Evan, and Gracelynn Davis; 1 brother, Ronnie Gower; and 1 sister, Peggy Parrish.
Funeral service for Linda will be at Bills-McGaugh & Hamilton Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at 1:00 PM. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and will resume on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at 11:00 AM and continue until the time of the service at 1:00 PM.
