Velma Whitehead

Velma was a native of St. Augustine, Florida. Velma was born on May 9, 1935, in Mcclenny Florida to the late Hudson Thrift and Nellie (Sweat) Thrift.

Velma worked for St. Johns County School District as a bus driver-aid for over 40 years. She retired in 2013. Velma enjoyed sitting on the porch watching the birds while doing puzzle books. She will be remembered as a diligent worker, her generous heart, joyful laughter and love she had for her family.

She is preceded in death by her sons Randy Usina, John Usina, and Kevin Whitehead. Sister Zelma Goss, Brothers Tom Thrift, and Larry Otis.

She is survived by her children, David Whitehead (Missy), Jerry Whitehead (Maria), Keith Whitehead (Wendy), Ricky Usina (Josephine), Robby Usina, Daughter, Terry White (Jud), brother Michael Thrift, and numerous grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at Craig Funeral Home 1475 Old Dixie Highway, St. Augustine, FL 32084.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice or charity of your choice.
