Karin Victoria Crivel

Karin V. (Pierce) Crivel, 83, passed away Tuesday, February 24, 2026. The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff and volunteers at Community Hospice and Palliative Care for their compassionate care and kindness.

Karin was one of a kind: adventurous, quick to laugh, endearingly clumsy, and endlessly kind. She had a gift for turning everyday moments into stories and making everyone feel like a friend. Her warmth, humor, and generous spirit left a lasting impression on all who knew her. Karin spent most of her life in Lorain and Sheffield Lake, Ohio, and St. Augustine, Florida. A 1960 graduate of Lakewood High School, Karin attended Albion College, where she was a member of Delta Zeta and played varsity basketball and softball. She later earned her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Baldwin Wallace University.

Karin's career included roles at Pickands Mather and Harris Corporation, followed by 25 years at National City Bank, where she served as Vice President and Senior Product Manager of Electronic Funds Transfers until her retirement in August 2003. Ever the social butterfly, Karin was active in the Delta Zeta Alumni Group, Lorain Historical Society, University Club, and the Community Congregational United Church of Christ in Amherst, Ohio. She enjoyed entertaining, playing bridge with the Tri Delta Bridge Club, attending Book Club, and participating in Lakeland Women's Club events. An adventurous spirit, Karin loved living on Lake Erie and was famously fearless on her jet ski. She cherished world travel, especially "cousinfests" in sunny locales and time with family in Sweden.

Karin was preceded in death by her parents, Jessie and William Pierce, her beloved husband, Ken Crivel with whom she spent 53 years of marriage, her brother Norman Pierce (Connie), niece Julie Pierce and sister-in-law Linda McClendon.

Karin is survived by her sister, Christine Martin (Philip), nephew William Pierce (Jade) and their children, Christy and Liam; Julie Pierce's children, Valyn and Skylar; brother0in-law Jack (Debra) Crivel and their children, Jim and Ken; brother-in-law Richard McLendon (Linda) and his children, Merill McLendon and Lisa Clark; and many dear friends who were like family.

Karin will be remembered for her laughter, her adventurous heart, and the kindness she shared so freely. Her life was full of love, friendship, quiet generosity and unforgettable moments.

A memorial service will be held at noon on March 28 at Craig Funeral Home in St. Augustine, Florida. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity dear to her, S.A.F.E.
